• Attendance

Regular school attendance and punctuality are essential for learning and are expected of all students. If your child will not be attending school for any reason, you are asked to call and notify the office. You may call 985 - 2296 ext. 5515 at any time and leave a message or email an excuse to attendance@trivalleycsd.org A written excuse similar to the one below is required by New York State Law each time a child is absent or tardy. This excuse should be sent to school on the day the child returns. The note, signed by the parent or guardian, should clearly state the date of and reason for the absence. The NYS Department of Education recognizes only the following as legal reasons for an absence: illness of pupil, illness or death of family member, impassable roads, religious observance, quarantine, required to be in court, attendance at organized clinic, remedial health treatment, approved cooperative work program and school sponsored trips. You can expect a phone call and/or contact from the school if your child is absent and we have not been notified.

Please be aware that students with excessive absences will be contacted by the classroom teacher and the school principal. A meeting may be scheduled with school staff when student absences are affecting student learning. Parents are strongly encouraged to discuss special circumstances with the classroom teacher.

    SCHOOL DAY

The student day is from 8:05 am-2:50 pm.

    ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL

Bus Arrival: Buses will release elementary school students beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Student Drop-off: Students not riding the bus should arrive no earlier than 7:55 a.m. at which time supervision will be provided. If parents are transporting their children, they should enter by the 34 Moore Hill Road Main Entrance, Student Drop-Off Area. Parents who need to come into the building will have to park their cars in designated spots. Cars are never permitted in the outer circle with the buses.

Bus Dismissal: Teachers will escort students to the buses. Parents are not permitted to go directly to a bus at dismissal time.

Student Pick-up: For pick-up at the end of the school day parents need to use the blacktop area. We ask that you arrive before dismissal (2:48 p.m.), sign out your child at the reception desk in the office and depart prior to the buses exiting the school parking lot. Again, you will not be permitted to drive the outer or inner circles with the buses.

    LATE TO SCHOOL

Students who attend school and arrive on time are more successful academically than students with a high number of absences and late arrivals. Parents should make every effort to ensure that there are in school on time. When excessive late arrivals and/or absences are affecting student performance, the teacher is expected to contact parents. If the problem persists, the teacher will notify the principal for intervention.

Students who arrive late to school must sign in at the office. Parent notes must be brought in each time a child is late.

    PERFECT ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES

    • Students in grades 5th & 6th are eligible for a perfect attendance certificate each quarter.
