From the Superintendent | An update about school nurse coverage at after school events

As we slowly attempt to return to normalcy during these unprecedented times, many school-related activities are again being offered. It is very exciting to see so many students attending various events like sports, clubs, and academic extra-curricular activities. Yet, as many of you know, many businesses throughout the country are experiencing difficulty filling many job positions that are essential to keeping things running at full capacity. Here at Tri-Valley we are also having difficulty finding qualified personnel to fill positions. From school bus drivers (Rolling V Bus Company), to substitutes and even teachers, finding qualified people to fill these positions has become extremely daunting.

Unfortunately, at this time we are no longer able to sustain after-school nurse coverage for all the various practice times on a consistent basis. The current nursing/ school day is from 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. At this time, for events scheduled outside this timeframe, coverage will not be available. However, if your child has a particular health concern, please call Danielle Cornish at (845) 985-2296 extension 5516, so we can work with you to find a mutually acceptable solution.

Although this is not a mandate by the state, Tri-Valley has prided itself on providing after-school nurse coverage for many years. Hopefully, this is a temporary problem. We want to keep families and community members regularly informed, especially about important changes like this one.
If you know of anyone qualified to be a nurse or nurse substitute, please encourage them to apply. For a list of Employment Opportunities, please visit our website, www.trivalleycsd.org, then look for TVCSD Employment Opportunities.
