The Tri-Valley Central School District has welcomed several new educators this year. Please welcome them to Bear Country!
Donna Brooks, Teaching Assistant
Donna Brooks worked as an aide in the Tri-Valley Life Skills class and has also coached our cross-country athletes. She will now be a Teaching Assistant in the Elementary School.
Before coming to Tri-Valley, Donna was a BOCES Adult Eduction Cooking Instructor and a Stained Glass Instructor. When not at school, Donna loves working in stained glass gardening, canning, and collecting vintage Santa Claus items.
Jennifer Diehl, Secondary School Social Worker
Jennifer is from Callicoon and received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Marist College and her Master’s in Social Work from Marywood University. Before coming to Tri-Valley, Jennifer worked as an Outpatient Social Worker for Sullivan County.
Jennifer likes spending time with family, fishing, and caring for her pets. She also loves to ride 4-wheelers with her son.
Tyler Eckhoff, Teacher, Grade 7,8 Social Studies
Tyler Eckhoff taught Social Studies at T-V from 2010-15 and we are thrilled that he is back as a Grade 7 and 8 Social Studies teacher and girls’ indoor and outdoor track coach! In the five years he was gone, Tyler taught Social Studies for Alexandria (VA) City Public Schools at the International Academy of Francis C. Hammond Middle School.
Tyler holds a B.A. in History from St. Joseph’s College and a Master’s in Liberal Studies from Stonybrook. His interest include running, coffee, coaching, the NY Mets and the NY Jets. He collects vinyl records and has an extensive collection.
Tyler Horne, Teacher, Secondary Mathematics
Tyler Horne is from Oneonta, and has a degree in Math from SUNY Binghamton and a degree in Math and Adolescent Education from SUNY Oneonta.
Before coming to Tri-Valley Tyler taught at Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School near Utica. He enjoys music, sports, fitness and playing the saxophone.
Keith Jones, Teacher, Secondary English
Keith Jones joined Tri-Valley during the second marking period of the 2019-20 school year, but we would like to formally introduce him to Tri-Valley.
Keith is from Kerhonkson and teaches English at T-V Secondary, filling in for a teacher who is on leave. He comes to us with 19 years of teaching experience in Newburgh and Orlando, Florida. He likes to study theology and shop at thrift stores.
Katelyn McKeon, Teacher, Special Education and ELA
Katelyn is from New Hampton and holds a B.A. in Adolescent Education/ ELA and a Master’s in Special Education (7-12), both from SUNY New Paltz.
Before coming to T-V she taught Grade 7 ELA at Poughkeepsie Middle School. Katelyn likes to swim, read, and write stories. She also teaches swimming to children with special needs, and has been a lifeguard since she was in high school.
Samantha Smith, Teacher, Grade 6 Math and Science
Samantha is from Pine Bush and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from SUNY New Paltz. Before coming to T-V, Samantha did her student teaching in New York City and was a substitute teacher. She enjoys yoga, hiking and kayaking.
Melissa Spence, Teacher, Grade 1/ICT
Melissa is from Napanoch and has degrees in Special Education/ General Education (Birth-Grade 6) from Mount Saint Mary College, a degree in Literacy Education from Long Island University, and has taken courses for the visually impaired at Dominican College
Before accepting this teaching position she was a teaching assistant here at T-V for the three years. Before that, she was a Special Education teacher at Project Excel. Melissa enjoys reading, shopping, baking and hiking.
