Dear Tri-Valley CSD Community,
As you may be aware, the Tri-Valley CSD Board of Education is commencing a search for our district’s next superintendent of schools given Erin Long’s decision to retire. The Board recognizes Mrs. Long for her contributions to the district and we extend our best wishes to her.
The Board of Education has been working to determine the best path forward in the search for our next Superintendent of Schools. In March, the Board voted to utilize the search consultant services of Sullivan BOCES Interim District Superintendent, Michael Rullo, who will assist our district with the superintendent search process. In this capacity, the consultant guides the district through a decision-making process that outlines candidate qualifications, publicizes the opening, provides a timeline and review process to narrow the pool of candidates, culminating with the identification of finalists from which the board will select our next superintendent. In other words, the Board is supported by the consultant to help it make the best decisions possible throughout the search.
You will be pleased to know that we have officially advertised the position through multiple means and across the entire state of New York. We are hopeful that we will receive a broad pool of candidates from which we will be able to choose an outstanding educational leader. The brochure for the position indicates that we will be keeping candidate information confidential through the initial stages of the process. We will publicize the finalists prior to the community forums that will be held in late June, before the Board makes its final decision. The Board believes stakeholder and community input is a key component of a successful search. To that end, we are inviting the school community to participate in a survey which will provide an opportunity for individuals to communicate their perspective on the skills, experiences, and attributes expected of our next superintendent. As we continue with the search process, we will be providing regular communications to our school community through our normal communication channels. For example, we will provide updates on the search process, we will ask you to complete a couple of different surveys for the Board’s information and use, and we will invite you to a community forum with the finalists so that our community can meet the candidates and provide feedback to the Board. Your participation in this process is important to the Board of Education.
