Beacon Connect Family App

Tri-Valley families can now stay informed with real-time bus tracking through the Beacon Connect Family app. The app provides live bus location updates, boarding and arrival notifications, and alerts for delays or emergencies.

Download the App

  • Search “BC Family” in your device’s app store.

  • Or scan the QR code provided by the district.

  • Before logging in, ensure the phone number you plan to use matches the number on file with the school.


Login Instructions

To log in, you will need your student’s bus route number. If you do not know it, please contact the district.

Sign-In Steps:

  1. Select “Sign In.”

  2. Enter your cell phone number (must match the number on file).

    • Example format: US +1 (999) 999-9999

  3. Enter the verification code sent via text message.

  4. Click “Need Help” to change the language if needed.

Once logged in, you will receive real-time updates on your child’s bus activity.


App Setup

To begin tracking:

  1. Tap “Add New Bus/Route.”

  2. Select a zone type.

  3. Select the route you want to follow.

  4. Select your student.

  5. Choose preferred days and times for notifications.

  6. Adjust your zone size.

You will receive notifications whenever the bus enters your selected zone, and you can track the bus live.

In the Settings menu, you can:

  • Add new students

  • Create new routes

  • Edit existing routes

Optional: Custom Zones

Custom zones allow you to get a heads-up when the bus is near a specific location—useful when:

  • The student rides a different bus to another address

  • The bus stop is far from home

  • You want alerts for alternate pickup/drop-off areas

How to Set Up a Custom Zone:

  1. Go to Settings > Buses You Follow

  2. Enter the bus route number

  3. Select “Custom Zone” and add a nickname

  4. Enter the address and choose the radius

  5. Select the desired days and times for notifications

Your custom zone will now be active.


Questions & Troubleshooting

Can additional family members receive notifications?

Yes. Contact your district to add approved family members.

Can I add an additional stop for certain days?

Yes. Your district can approve additional stops according to district procedures.

Not receiving notifications?

  • Make sure device notifications are turned on.

  • If issues continue, email beaconconnect@gobeacon.com with your phone number and school district.

App says my phone number is invalid?

  • Email beaconconnect@gobeacon.com.

  • If your phone number doesn’t match the one on file, contact your school directly. Support cannot edit your number.

Why is the live bus location slightly delayed?

A normal delay of approximately 16 seconds occurs between actual and displayed location.

How do I report an issue?
