4th Grade Animal Project Covers Bring Writing to Life

Fourth-grade students recently combined creativity and craftsmanship to design eye-catching book covers for their animal research writing projects.

Under the guidance of their fourth-grade teachers, Ms. Raykoff, Ms. Engle, Ms. Helmbold, and Ms. Kennedy, students followed a step-by-step artistic process to create their covers.

The project kicked off with a live demonstration led by Ms. Raykoff, who guided students through each step of the artistic process and helped them bring their ideas to life. Students began by selecting an animal-skin background and using oil pastels to carefully recreate its texture and pattern. They then chose an animal silhouette, traced it onto black paper, cut it out, and adhered it to their background, completing a striking design.

The result was a striking collection of animal-themed book covers that reflect both creativity and patience. This project not only enhanced students’ artwork but also helped them take pride in their writing by presenting it in a professional and visually engaging way.

The fourth-grade team is proud of the students’ hard work, and special thanks go to Ms. Raykoff for leading the demonstration and guiding students through the artistic process that made these projects such a success.
