Tri-Valley Central School District proudly congratulates Daniel McCauliff and Larry Whipple, who were honored at the 2026 Sullivan County School Boards Association’s annual awards dinner on October 5, 2026, at Villa Roma. Both individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Tri-Valley students, families, and the greater school community.
Daniel McCauliff – Outstanding Educator Award
For more than 27 years, Daniel McCauliff has made a lasting impact on generations of Tri-Valley students through his dedication as a science teacher, mentor, and department leader.
Known for his high expectations, innovative teaching methods, and commitment to academic excellence, McCauliff has challenged students to think critically, explore new ideas, and develop confidence in their abilities.
His creative approach to instruction includes introducing high school seniors to college-level engineering concepts, providing opportunities to tackle complex challenges, apply scientific principles, and develop real-world problem-solving skills.
Throughout his career, McCauliff has gone beyond teaching science to inspire curiosity, encourage personal growth, and equip students with the knowledge and skills to succeed well beyond their years at Tri-Valley.
Larry Whipple – Friend to Education Award
Larry Whipple has spent decades giving back to the Tri-Valley community through youth athletics, mentorship, volunteerism, and unwavering support for local students and families.
From coaching young athletes to helping maintain and improve athletic facilities, Whipple has played an important role in creating opportunities for children to learn teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and the value of community involvement.
His dedication to Little League and youth sports extends far beyond the playing field. Through fundraising, community partnerships, and countless volunteer hours, he has helped strengthen local programs, improve facilities, and bring together families, businesses, and community members in support of young athletes.
Perhaps most notably, Whipple’s commitment has continued long after his own children finished participating in youth sports. His willingness to give his time, build relationships, and create opportunities for future generations reflects a genuine passion for the community he has called home for so many years.
Tri-Valley Central School District congratulates Daniel McCauliff and Larry Whipple on these well-deserved honors and thanks them for their years of service and commitment to our students and community.
